First Day of Spring 2012
Today is the first day of classes for the spring semester and although I don't have class today, I've found my way to my favorite seat in the library computer lab. Last row, second computer from the aisle. I'm trying to get a jump on the mountain of reading for my four courses. It really is never ending, so I guess it's a good thing that I enjoy reading and learning.
Sometimes I get stuck in this rut thinking about how I haven't done anything with my life yet. I'm going to be 27 in just about 7 weeks and I'm still in school?! I must be some sort of crazy. But the truth is, I love what I'm doing right now. The break was nice and sitting around in my sweats all day watching television was heavenly, but this is what I truly enjoy. Sitting down at the library, getting my reading done, learning new things, talking to the people who come in and out and strolling down to the Myers Commons for endless cups of free hot tea while poking my head in offices looking for candy. I really can't complain.
I was out to dinner with my best friend, Ryan, last night and we were talking about how complaining is part of the whole college and grad school student experience. You're not really a student on this level if you're not complaining. To some extent I agree, probably because I am a World Class Complainer. And while I'm not much for resolutions, this semester I'm going to try and tone it down. I have a good life. This is a good community of people and at the end of the day, I really am enjoying this stage in my life more than I am annoyed by the workload.
So I'm looking forward to what the upcoming months hold. I wish you all an amazing semester!
