Fridays @ Forest

The Center for Innovation & Community Health (CICH) has an ongoing continuing education program called "Fridays @ Forest." Like the name suggests, the program puts on workshops for CEUs on Fridays here at school. The best part about the program is that it costs $10 for students to attend and I don't have to travel anywhere. I can just walk down from my apartment! And if you're a Psi Chi member, they will pay for you to attend one workshop per semester. How cool is that?!

Why am I so pumped about Fridays @ Forest right now?  Well, because they just released the summer workshop schedule and there are a number of great items on it, including a series on play, art and music therapy and an afternoon on mindfulness in therapy.

Having the opportunity to network with mental health professionals from the area and learn about topics that are of interest to me is really great! I also love being able to add each workshop to the Professional Development section of my CV. This past semester I was even able to earn a non-credit certificate in eating disorder diagnosis and treatment from CICH, complete with a framed certificate!

This is one really awesome perk to being a Forest student and I do everything I can to take advantage of the opportunity. Having a class on Friday is rare and unless you were to have practicum or supervision, you should be able to make time for the topics that are relevant to your future practice.

The link below will take you to the summer workshop schedule. Check it out! I highly recommend it...
