The Civility Initiative
Forest Institute and the Center for Innovation and Community Health are proud to team up with the city of Springfield for the "Be Civil, Be Heard" initiative.
Civility defined is simply "courtesy or politeness."
However, it's how we apply civility into our everyday lives that make the difference.
Have you ever given a presentation only to find nobody was listening? Have you ever spoken out about a topic only to be ridiculed?
The goal of the Civility Initiative is to open up the lines of communication, and to teach respect for others opinions.
No one should have to feel belittled because of who they are, or their beliefs on a matter.
So, the next time you are faced with a topic, don't be afraid to speak out, but don't be afraid to listen.
Listen below as familiar faces from Forest Institute talk about what Civility means to them.
