CFHA Conference Gets Underway

Forest President, Dr. Mark Skrade is in Philadelphia this weekend attending the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association conference.

This year's conference them is "Accelerating Adoption of Collaborative Care: Reaching the Tipping Point."

Presenters at the conference include Dr. Elizabeth Zeidler, a Forest Alumnus, and Dr. Christine Runyan, a former Forest faculty member and Vice President of Academic Affairs.  Drs. Zeidler and Runyan are presenting alongside a team about "Ethical Delimas for the Behavioral Health Clinician."  The session is set to elucidate current and anticipated ethical dilemmas behavioral health clinicians are likely to face with the advent of Patient Centered Medical Homes.

Current Forest presenters include Stacy Ogbeide, MS, Gage Stermensky, Phil Pegg, Ph.D., and Christopher Newumann, Ph.D.  The group presented a poster titled "Patient Characteristics Associated with Behavioral Health and Specialty Mental Health Referalls."  Using archival data from a community health clinic, the study examined factors associated with a behavioral health and specialty mental health referral.

Among things announced at the conference is that Dr. Skrade will end a three year term on the Executive Committee of the CFHA Board, and will become the Chair of the Board's Membership Committee.

We expect to hear much more from Dr. Skrade about the conference and about the role of psychologists in collaborative healthcare when he returns from the conference.
