Give a Day Program Hosts First Cookies with Santa

The inaugural Cookies with Santa event took place this Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at the Robert J. Murney Clinic. The event provided local children with the chance to spend some extra special, one-on-one time with their families and jolly old man himself.

The event, which is sponsored by the Give a Day volunteer program, gives graduate students, faculty and staff within the Forest community, a chance to volunteer their time and efforts to local organizations in one day increments.

The children were treated to cookies and juice boxes and had the chance to have their picture taken with Santa.

"There was a ton of support from students, faculty and staff,” said Kristy Carter, Admissions Administrative Assistant.

Leftover cookies and juice boxes were donated to the Family Violence Center and to a local Boys & Girls Town program.

The next Give a Day event will be held Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at the Ronald McDonald House. Participants will assist with the Family Dinner Program, which is a service that provides meals to the families currently staying at the house.
