Faculty-Published Companion Tip Sheet Now Available
Kristina S. Brown, PhD, LMFT, authored a tip sheet for Certified
Family Life Educators on
the National Healthy Marriage Resource Center website, titled Helping
Couples Cope with Cancer: Tips for MRE Practitioners.
This tip sheet is a companion piece that accompanies her previously published tip sheet, titled
In Sickness and In Health: Couples Fighting
Cancer Together, which was published in December 2010.
Both tip sheets provides
insight and tips for couples faced with the presence of cancer in their
relationship. This most recent tip sheet is written for the practitioners who will treat such couples, and the previous tip sheet, which can be downloaded here, was written as a resources for the couples themselves.
Dr. Brown contends that "cancer can be an experience of
resiliency, bringing you and your partner closer together.”
Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor at The School of Professional
Psychology at Forest Institute and the Director of the Marriage and Family
Therapy program. She is also a practicing licensed marriage and family
therapist.
